84000Hours.com will discuss how to find motivation, purpose, and passion in work and in life. At the core, this website will help people looking for more than just a paycheck out of their career. This is a place for people who want both success and happiness.
The learning starts with my own career journey, www.iamontheroad.com. As a brief background, I was a guy living the high life in Charlotte, NC, on pace to make over $100,000 a year while working less than 40 hours per week. As good as I had it, I found myself uninspired. I eventually quit my job, cashed in my savings, and traveled the country interviewing people who had the purpose and passion I lacked. The road has been awesome. I’ve been blessed to sit down with over 145 people from all walks of life and learn how they came to live a life of inspiration.
Their powerful experiences and words of wisdom changed me forever. I found my purpose on the road: to meet passionate people and share the stories of how they got there with others.
I have broken down my interview stories into 12 Lessons that can be applied to any career journey. I have also taken my personal battle and teamed it with my inspiring interviewees to lay the groundwork for my forthcoming book, "84,000 Hours: On the road lessons from people working with purpose and passion."
